SOUND VIDEO INSTALLATION / GENERATIVE FILM / MULTI-SCREEN PROJECTION ON FOUR SCREENS

Created for the European Heritage Days, Pacific is a generative video installation built around a dialogue between industrial memory and contemporary choreographic presence.

The work brings together archival footage from the former Pacific water-heater factory and images of the Christiane Blaise dance company, which, several decades later, came to inhabit the same site after its transformation into a choreographic creation space in Grenoble.

Through generative editing, the gestures of industrial labour and those of dance echo, overlap, and gradually permeate one another. Workers’ bodies, machines, and movements through the factory enter into dialogue with the dancers’ trajectories and the site’s contemporary uses.

Rather than illustrating historical memory, the film seeks to reveal the invisible layers of a space successively inhabited by different forms of human activity. Temporalities intersect, presences persist, gestures return in altered forms.

Projected across multiple screens, the installation creates a space of resonance where documentary, memory, and abstraction become intertwined. As in several of my works, the generative structure allows the film to evolve continuously, transforming the piece into a shifting organism traversed by fragments of time and human experience.
