MAN WITH VAN

SOUND VIDEO INSTALLATION / GENERATIVE FILM / FOUR-SCREEN MULTI-PROJECTION

Man with Van is a generative video installation created from footage shot in New York in 2005.

The film follows the daily movements of a mover driving through the city in his van. From inside the vehicle, urban landscapes unfold in fragmented and unstable sequences, suspended between circulation, waiting, fatigue and perpetual motion.

Through windows, along sidewalks, during deliveries or in passing streets, fragments of conversations emerge — stray thoughts, clients’ voices, passing encounters. Gradually, a discontinuous portrait takes shape: that of a man, but also of a city inhabited by flows, distances and forms of solitude.

The generative system continuously reshapes the relationships between images, text and sound. Sequences appear, disappear, repeat themselves or migrate from one screen to another, creating an open narrative in which reality slowly drifts toward a kind of mental fiction.

As in many of my installations, the intention is not to tell a linear story, but to construct a perceptual space where memory, movement and sensation intertwine. Man with Van explores the city from its margins, within the suspended temporalities of work, transit and everyday wandering.
