SOUND VIDEO INSTALLATION / GENERATIVE FILM / MULTI-SCREEN PROJECTION ON FOUR SCREENS

Image Tangage is a black-and-white generative video installation built around images of the Toulon harbor filmed from a boat.

The slow movement of the frame, the oscillations of the vessel, and the constant rolling motion of image and sound create an experience of drift in which the landscape becomes unstable, almost mental. Interwoven with this visual passage is the voice of a man recalling, in fragments, the memory of his grandfather, a worker in the shipyards of La Seyne-sur-Mer.

Between documentary, intimate narrative, and abstraction, Image Tangage explores a floating memory made of recollections, displacements, and sensations rather than linear storytelling. The generative editing process continuously reshapes the relationships between images, texts, and sounds, transforming the installation into a shifting organism.

The work was acquired by the Hôtel des Arts – Centre Méditerranéen d’Art Contemporain in 2005 and has been presented on several occasions, notably in the exhibition Var & Ailleurs as well as in various exhibitions dedicated to works from the center’s collection.
