92 black-and-white photographs — diptychs

Conseguenze is a series of black-and-white photographs constructed as diptychs.
Each image seems to become, in an intuitive and poetic way, the consequence of the other.

Taken between London, Paris, Sardinia, and several Italian cities, these photographs emerge from a practice of wandering and close attention to reality. Many were captured in the street, spontaneously, sometimes at the very edge of photographic theft. Fleeting gestures, absent gazes, fragments of architecture, moving bodies, luminous textures, and ordinary situations become the elements of an open language in which images converse through resonance rather than demonstration.

The work does not seek to tell a story in the narrative sense, but rather to reveal sensitive relationships, secret correspondences, and mental continuities. A silhouette seems to extend a landscape, a movement answers a light, a form anticipates another form. Between the photographs, a floating space emerges in which the viewer completes the possible connections.

Black and white plays a central role in this distancing. It unifies places and temporalities, transforming the traversed cities into mental territories and suspending the images within the same sensitive materiality, sometimes close to memory or dream.

As often in my work, montage occupies a central place. What matters is not only the isolated image, but what appears between the images: the gaps, tensions, shifts of meaning, and unexpected correspondences.

Conseguenze was published as an artist’s book, available by order, and was presented in an exhibition at Éditions Cent Pages in Grenoble in 2017.
