BRICK SESSIONS (2006) — Album

BRICK SESSIONS follows a logic of construction and assembly, in which sound is approached as a malleable material — much like elementary building blocks. An implicit reference to Lego, the title engages at once a rigorous and playful approach to composition: stacking, arranging, dismantling, recomposing.

The album develops a writing practice at the intersection of electroacoustics, improvisation, and a montage sensibility inherited from cinema. Sonic sequences are organised as so many autonomous blocks, connected through plays of continuity, rupture, and slippage. Each piece becomes a space under construction, in which forms emerge from successive combinations rather than from linear development.

Instrumental sources — voice, strings, winds, percussion — are captured, fragmented, then reinscribed within an electronic material that extends and displaces them. Electroacoustics acts here as a binding agent, but also as a force of transformation, capable of redistributing roles and blurring sonic identities.

This logic of assembly produces a cinematic mode of listening: not narrative in the classical sense, but founded on a succession of shots, situations, and points of view. Sound becomes potential image, a space to be traversed, an unstable architecture.

Between play and composition, BRICK SESSIONS explores a form of open writing, in which the rigour of montage coexists with an element of indeterminacy — allowing unexpected configurations to emerge.
